If this is sucessful I may try making a sight from piping as well. I'm thinking of knocking together the basic structure, and then looking at the barrel as almost a seperate project, sanding it down and perhaps using plastic piping to case the nerf style barrel and make it look more "lasguny". one of my big "turn offs" at the idea of cosplaying has always been being a guy carrying a nerf gun, not a lasgun.ĭoes anyone have any tips on the thickness of Plasticard to use? I have anything from 0.5 to 3 mm thick available via a local supplier, I want it to be sturdy but I'm concerned the thicker options will be too thick. I've been inspired by Matsuo's amazing looking lasguns and want to make something that at least passes as a custom built lasgun. A few problems I forsee are raising the stock up in line with the rest of the weapon, and the distinctive muzzle/sight of the lasgun. I got myself a Nerf Longstrike CS-6 and intend to turn it into a Lasgun, probably along the lines of a Long Las since I prefer that look and it's quite a long weapon.īase plan is to build a Lasgun shell around it like I saw someone do for a boltgun conversion, with Plasticard. I’m sure it’ll take a long time, so I’ll crack-on and keep you posted along the way.ĮDIT I’ve changed my mind now, although the grenadier idea is still there, I’m doing a quartermaster first. So today while browing KMart I suddenly decided on my first actual project. Also, Forgeworlds DKoK Grenadier figures. My reference for the costume will be almost exclusively visual, using the artists impression on page 89 of Forgeworlds Imperial Armour Book Volume Five – Siege of Vraks Part One. So, in case someone else wants to do the same, I’ll create the guide I could have done with.
DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG LASGUN HOW TO
I hoped to find something online that would tell me exactly how to do it, but couldn’t find anything. Being a big fan of 40K, it would also be great to see a quality DKoK costume. But I went to Comic Con 2015 and saw other cosplayers in their costumes and decided it would probably be a laugh. I’ve been a re-enactor for quite a few years, so am not a stranger to dressing up. Why not? I’ve never been into cosplay and didn’t really see the point. I want to create a Death Korp of Krieg Grenadier costume for use at Comic Con UK 2016. It’s black, so that dictates my costume as the 5th Siege Regiment. I will probably make the arms closer-fitting, use part of the double-cuff as material to make the collar higher and possibly take in the chest size. It’ll be long enough for me, but will need some adjustment. It’s a reproduction German M32 black wool greatcoat. Most coats available are not long enough. There are a lot of military greatcoats available online meeting these criteria. The colour of the coat is dictated by the guardsman’s regiment Forgeworld figures also show an adjustable band on the lower back and two front pockets. The reference artwork also shows the coat to be mid-calf length, buttons extending to at least the knees, close(ish)-fitting arms with double cuff and a high collar. It’s collar bears the regimental tag stitched to the coat. It is double-breasted and includes brass buttons, a pair of which allows the coat’s front to be turned back for greater mobility in combat. This is a great bit for use in conversions. It is a new, unused bit and has been carefully removed from the sprue for use. It is manufactured on Krieg, provides limited protection and is heavily impregnated against chemical and biological attack. Death Korp of Krieg Squad Advancing Lasgun with Arms E made by Forge World.
So apparently the greatcoat (along with the trousers and boots) are exactly the same as those issued to other Krieg infantry.
